Collis Spann

Collis Spann earned his Bachelor’s in Communication from Hofstra University and received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a concentration in Performance Enhancement from California University of Pennsylvania. In order to enhance his expertise as a fitness professional and strength coach, he continues to expand his knowledge by attending seminars and receiving certifications.

Growing up, Collis was exposed to many different cultures. He traveled to over 30 different countries and was taught to adapt to different situations. One of his most memorable experiences was working as a basketball coach in Geneva, Switzerland, training young athletes. While in Peru, Collis learned the art of boxing. He was coached under the guidance of professional boxer Richard “Chocolate” Torres at the “Guantes de Oro” gym. He continues to be an avid fan of boxing and is very active in both coaching and teaching the unique techniques and mechanics of the sport.

While working as a strength coach and fitness manager, he encountered many athletes looking to improve their skills. Although the majority of his athletes were elementary through high school age, Collis has worked with several competitors excelling at the collegiate level, as well as several professional athletes seeking further improvement of their skills. No matter the sport, Collis has a knack for guiding athletes to reach their goals by improving their speed, agility, quickness, strength, and mental fortitude. His coaching style and philosophy is based on encouraging one to grow as an athlete, teammate, and more importantly a person.

Collis enjoys not only living an active lifestyle but a healthy one as well. He has faced many obstacles concerning his own health and found that living a healthy lifestyle became a means to overcome these hurdles. When he is not delivering his boundless knowledge to others, he is pushing himself to new heights. He has competed in Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, Strongman, and Kettlebell lifting. He loves competing and never turns down a challenge!

Now, as a fitness professional and coach, he thrives in helping individuals achieve their optimal health, fitness potential, and peak performance. No matter the age or previous fitness experience, Collis will design a fitness program for you to accomplish goals, break plateaus, and learn new ways to challenge not only your physical well-being but your mental capacity to destroy imaginary barriers.
